Join us to celebrate the work of nurses all over the world – Nurses day is this Thursday 12th May and a chance to say ‘Thank You’ to nurses for their care, skill and professionalism. Nurses day is celebrated every year on Florence Nightingale’s birthday.
Florence Nightingale was born on the 12th May 1820 and dedicated her life to the advancement of the Nursing profession. She is remembered today because of the care and professionalism she brought to nursing and the iconic portrayal of her as the ‘Lady with the lamp’ during the Crimean war. She returned as a heroine to the UK in 1857 and was one of the biggest celebrities of the day. In 1860 she opened the Nightingale school for Nurses in London and is still remembered in the classrooms of nursing schools.
