The Nursing & Midwifery Council now accepts two language tests, as evidence of the nurses’ ability to communicate effectively in English: The International English Language Test System (IELTS) and the Occupational English Test (OET). Nurses trained outside of the United Kingdom, who seek to register & practice in the UK, need to undertake ONE of these tests, to complete their registration with the NMC.
